| Research* | Research: I'm becoming a little convinced that this was the child of Joseph and Julia Ann (marriage proves that). Presumably they could not cope and another family relation (her deceased husband's brother) agreed to take her on. The "Hetty" name comes and goes, Emma mainly stays (as a second name). Her father being stated on her 1919 marriage as "Joseph Mee" was a clincher for me. I could use some evidence of the "niece" relation between this John Fisher (Hetty Emma's "uncle") and the Charles Fisher who married Julia, to prove the statements in the census. Emma would have been a recipient of the "Estate of Jo Bingham deceased" as she survived past 1927. I think the fact that Julia died in 1887 (and she is named as the contact in 1927) meant that no-one knew much about Julia Ann's family at the time and least of all about Emma as she left the family home before the age of 8. | |
