Good Driving Medals A Moulton man, Mr. George Henry Bazeley of High-Street who produced medals for goods driving, was summoned to Kettering police Court on Wednesday for failing to stop and report a motor-lorry after being involved in an accident at Rothwell on December 9 and also for not reporting the incident to the police. He pleaded not guilty. Bertie Ronald Wells 52 Harrington-Road , Rothwell, said he left his bicycle in Nunnery-Avenue, Rothwell. A lorry stood near. When he returned the bicycle was on the ground and the lorry was gone. Mrs. Winnifred Tebbutt 22 Tennyson-Road, Rothwell said that she saw a lorry reverse and run over the bicycle. The driver appeared to look down. Defendant said he did not feel or hear anything. Had he done so, he would have reported it. Superintendent A. J. Chapman: Why did you not challenge Mrs. Tebbutt's statement that you appeared to look down? Defendant: I never challenge a woman. I never say anything to my wife (laughter)! Defendant was ordered to pay 9s. cost in each case.6 |
