C. Hilton A charming wedding was celebrated at All Saints church. Moulton on Saturday afternoon. Miss Alice Alma Sporton, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Sporton, School-Lane was the bride (no she wasn't as her name was Eveline) and Mr. Maurice Charles Hilton youngest son of Mrs. and the late Mr. G. Hilton, of Holbeach, the bridegroom. Miss Sporton, whose was given away by her father, was attired in a close-fitting dress of white cloque, with train and veil held in place by gardenias, and carried a bouquet of lilies and trailing fern. Her two sisters the Misses Eunice and Edith Sporton were bridesmaids.They wore tasteful dresses of gold taffeta, with headdress of spring flowers, whilst a third attendant was Miss Janet Middlebrook of Spalding, the bride's niece, who wore white taffeta and a poke bonnet trimmed with spring flowers. The elder bridesmaids carried bouquets and the younger one a posy of spring blossoms. The bridegroom presented each with an ivory-bound prayer-book. The bride's cousin, Mr. Alec Bothamley was the best man. The choral service was conducted by the Vicar (the Rev A. H. Partridge). Mr. Gordon Wright, presiding at the organ, rendered appropriate music and accompanied the hymns "Lead us, Heavenly father" and "The Voice that breathed o'er Eden". Following a reception at the bride's home, Mr. and Mrs. Hilton left for their home at Fulbeck. For upwards of 12 years, the bride who is a popular personality at moulton, has been employed by Messrs. J.T. White and Sons. On the occasion of the Spalding Hospital Carnival two years ago the bride and her sister, Miss Eunice Sporton were among the six finalists from whom the queen of the carnival were selected. Among the many presents received was a hand-embroidered linen tablecloth from the directors and staff of Messrs. J. T. White and Sons. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a leather handbag with gold clasp, and that of the bride to the bridegroom a gold wristlet watch. The staff of the Sleaford section of the Prudential Assurance Co., with whom the bridegroom was employed sent a silver cake stand and fellow workers of J. T. White and Son gave a Lloyd loom chair. In respect of the brakes, Hilton's employers, Wrights Bakeries, were also summoned. The offences were at Long Sutton on May 15. For the prosecution, Mr. S. J. Green said in regard to the brake, both driver and the owner were held to be using the vehicle. Mr. L.H. Holroyde, for the defence, said in law both the owner and driver were responsible. The deficiencies of the brakes were not a serious matter. The handbrake was not effective, but was easily adjusted, and the footbrake was quite efficient. Hilton was fined £3 10s in all.
